Had a buddy just get done visiting me here on the island... I could not sell him on the beauty i have here at my side. Sure... he had nothing negative to say about my 50GI (OF COURSE) but never so much as raised an eye brow to own one himself. Caught him drooling on it at least once (i think) but he had no questions to ask no desire to hold it while watching a movie on the couch, no "spark" to be the only guy on his block toting a 50cal 1911... I literally handed it to him daily as he stayed here, hoping he would hold it and get attached. I have no stock in "Guncrafter Industries" but I want the best for the people in my life i care about. Ive certainly done my homework and want to pass on the end result of my thesis.

My point is... this ISN'T the first time I ran into such an odd creature.
I got two other buddies the same way. Jealous of me only to the extent that obviously the 50GI rates but not desire to have one their own...

?!?!?!?!

Think about that...If you had the worlds fastest car, hottest babe, etc. etc. wouldn't your buddies be doing everything in their power to get the same thing? hang on your every word to find the secret to obtaining such a thing?

Of course this all relates to money and how not everybody needs the same things.
But this drives me nuts~
It's your S I D E A R M for heavens-sake!
How do people sleep at night knowing there is an advancement 99 years in the making and not take full advantage of it?
All these buddies i mentioned have some crap ass version of a .40....

Just wondering if any of you came across similar situations?

Hi Killoften,
What a story...it's like being there. Well, I have been around the gun "culture" my entire life. Gunsales, competition, collecting, military, concealed carry and now a pistolsmith. And yes, I have seen similar situations over and over everywhere. I guess in order to like, love or respect something, one will have to truely understand it first. Some folks couldn't care less, whether you showed them a used security guard gun or a $ 2.000 custom piece.
Wasn't it the late honorable Jeff Cooper who said ' The true beauty of a 1911...is on the inside".

How confident are you he's a connoisseur of pistols? If he isn't a fan of pistols, it probably didn't move him. For example, I've never been into shotguns or shotgun hunting. At a buddy's house for Thanksgiving, his father in law brought over his new Beretta O/U shotgun to show it off. It was suppose to be a top of the line model, engraving, the whole nine yards. To the bird hunters, the thing was the greatest thing since sliced bread. To me? After a quick once over (I didn't even bother holding it) all I was thinking was "ok." I just can't get excited over a shotgun. Maybe your buddy isn't a 1911 fan or maybe he just doesn't go wild over pistols?

The real test will be to show it to someone you know carries a 1911.

I talk about the 50GI so much and I see so many Marines on a day to day basis I have at this time AT LEAST 4 people seriously considering one of their own. I have pictures of all over my desk space and I get fielded a lot of questions. I have a SCHP (expanded) on standby to put the icing on the cake!

One thing you need to consider killoften, you can have the ultimate anything and there are literally TONS of people that won't even consider it as a purchase option because of the price. It doesn't mater that it's handmade, it doesn't matter that it is superior in every way for a defense caliber, they just won't pay the price. Hell, I know people that have a hard time payng $3000 for a CAR, let alone a pistol.

I can't afford a Ferrari, but I would still look it over. Some people think of a gun as strictly a tool(I've heard of people who used the butt of a sixgun as a hammer), while other people spend hundreds of thousands of dollars(.700 Holland and Holland best quality) with no intention of ever shooting it!

All the more reason I'm a proud owner!
So proud, I spend a lot of my personal time on a forum dedicated to it! hahaha
