I'm sure GI is up to it. Would anyone pay, that is the question?

Caspian arms makes titanium frames, about $200 more if I remember correctly, 7 oz savings?
My concern would be durability.
I'll be staying with steel thank you.

You are right about the price. However... (www.titanium.com/titanium/tech_manual/tech2.cfm)

Very interesting. Unfortunately, it is not on the California Approved list.

That's right, but it's too expensive anyways. BTW, waiting eagerly for the court to abolish the stupid california approved guns.

Hi all,
Just got back from a wonderful trip and IDPA match in St.Louis.
Just read a little from all the other websides related to 1911' etc. O'he boy, how everything is becomming more and more "contaminated" by emotions instead of fact's. Self created 1911 experts....hate even saying that word.
What many gun owners don't understand, is that higher prizes don't always mean better products. 90 % is based upon second hand knowledge, and not from personal experience. Someone new to the whole thing, pick up on the "experience" and "insight" from existing "experts", that have been on the sites for years, and around and around we go. Facts and feeling are mixed up in one big cluster, and only few have extensive first hand experience in the first place.
I could easily go on and on about the whole topic, but know you all know, why I have given up on participating on the various 1911 forums. Had gotten so many PM's from so many people, thats why I'm writing this, and stick to this nice website most of the time.
Weeeeel, just wanted to air this out of my system, and hope you'll all understand me and where I'm coming from.
Later guys, Jess

Glad you are staying here, as one of the real experts. To quote Elmer Keith,"Hell, I was there!"
By the way, I don't even care for titanium firing pins. If someone spent a fraction of the price of the Tiki on practice, I am sure he would do well with any decent pistol.

Exactly my opinion of "gun writers". Instead of talking about your opinions, let's hear your experience, you know; ever been in combat? , how about a gunfight?, ever shot anybody, been shot at?.
I thought so,.........now we're down to a very small handful of people that know what they are talking about. The late Jim Crillo for example.
Okay, rant off, back to our regularly scheduled programing.

Interestingly, I have been held at gunpoint(Colt .38 Detective Special) by a "little old lady" when I was twelve. I was on her unfenced front yard looking at a bird in a tree, when I was 12. I was shot "over' according to the shooter(.30-06), at age 15, when I was "too near his property" while archery shooting. This time I was hunting with my father. He was afraid I might damage his house with arrows. Apparently Californians are very property conscious!
By the way, I believe carrying a gun can often prevent a gunfight, not that I have ever had the opportunity to carry.

Using my criteria, 10Ring has more experience than the majority of gunwriters. Couple that with his ability to find detailed technical information on gun related subjects puts him right at the top of the class.
Living in California is going to severely limit the guns available for him to test.
So, once again, move out of California ! !
