I have been working with Ron Williams of RMW Xtreme INC on using the 50GI cartridge in the AR-15 and I am happy to say that it works and works very well. I have 2 of these uppers and both are 100% reliable, we have many different mag systems for them, pps 43 (the system on my 8" Registered SBR)

and converted AR-15 mags as used on the 15" upper with perm muzzle device to make it legal 16.1".
The pps mags hold 14 rounds and the converted 30 round AR-15 mags hold 9 rounds, the pps mags require a mag block that is inserted into the standard 223 mag well from the top. The loads I had made up were built with the 275gr HP and AutoComp powder, I have used 300gr bullets and Unique and groups are as good or better. Shooting @ 25yds groups ran about 2-2.25" (it was a hot day today and I have shot groups as tight as 1" with the 8" upper)
15" upper @ 25yds 275gr AutoComp load going 1235fps.
8" upper @ 25yds 275gr Autocomp load going 1110fps.
In our testing some factory ammo can be used but this is a handloaders dream using AutoComp and Unique they both burn 100% and are very clean in the gun. (there is a pic of the factory 185gr load out of the 8" upper in the Something fun thread) Recoil is very mild and fun to shoot, today we were shooting steel plates @ 50yds and if we did our part we hit them every time.
These uppers can be ordered almost any way you want, the standard 16" with 1 converted AR-15 mag is $750 + any options you want and shipping to you.
Please feel free to im me for information.
Thanks 50Master for allowing me to post this information as I feel the AR-15 is a great platform for the 50GI.

Awsome! Simply awsome! Thanks for putting in the work and comming out with a great product we can all enjoy. Yet one other platfomr for us to enjoy 50GI! But what's the velocity out of the longer barrel? The the longer barrel help build up the velocity much? And if so how much? How was the recoil? THIS sound like a great home defense gun! Keep spewing details. You put that much time and effort into the final product, how about a longer review. Who knows when a gun magazine will take notice, please feel free to give us some nitty gritty details to read. 475AR you are my hero of the month!
The velocity is 1235fps out of the 16" and 1110fps out of the 8" (both above the group pics for each.)
The recoil is very mild it is more of a stright back push then a slamming hard kick, look @ both videos and watch the muzzle rise there is very little. I have recovered some bullets and they do expand out of the 8" gun. I will be testing other bullets and powders with the GI as it is a great round.
As for the longer review, this is a work in progress and I will be doing/posting more.
Is there any chance of showing us one in full auto?
Don't know bout anybody else, but I for one am pretty excitted about a 50GI in an AR platform!
That's where you can really push those sturdy little cases to their max. What an awsome rifle, I can think of ton's of fun. I for sure will be purchasing one of those in the near furture!
Yes i think its very cool also..I was talking to Alex the other day and he said that the 50gi starline brass can hold up to heavy magnum pressures..but he does not recommend it due to the fact that the glock and the 1911 pistols will gain more wear and tear hence shorter lifespan of your gun from a magnum loaded 50gi cartridge....But it looks as though the Ar15 platform could be a good candidate to try out a magnum loaded 185gr SCHP.....I guess we will just have to wait and see

+1
Same thing he told me. It was at that point I decided I wanted the AR. Can't wait to see how these cases respond to magnum pressure!
While the brass may hold up, I would suggest that you get a 50AE or 50Beo. The GI runs great @ 21,000 psi brass is not stressed @ all. I have about 10 reloadings on the 100 rds of brass that I have used now for over 1 year and the only problem was when working on different mags to run I destroyed 1 or 2 pcs due to mag issues. if you are looking to get Magnum power out of a 50 cal AR I have some hunting loads for the 50AR (in the AR) that will give you all the fun you can stand.![]()
